The complex brownface "harmonic vibrato", however, was replaced by a simpler electro-optic oscillator. The AA763 (July 1963) and improved AB763 (March 1964) ("blackface") circuit is arguably considered the "best" circuit version produced for this amp by collectors and aficionados. In August 1967, Fender changed the cosmetics from the “blackface” to the “silverface” style. But it really came into its own in the famous 45-watt 2x12" piggyback configuration (ultimately discontinued in 1974). It then evolved to a 3x10" 26-watt tweed combo. The original Fender Bandmaster was introduced in 1953 as a 1x15" tweed combo. This amp featuring the AB763 circuitry, is one of the last “blackfaces” and one of the very first of the large speaker cabinets. ![]() There is patina abounding, this piggyback has seen plenty of playing time and is ready to continue. The head has had a filter cap replaced and the speaker cabinet has had one speaker reconed.Ĭosmetically the head and cabinet are showing marks and nicks, the grilles have some imperfections, the brightwork shows surface corrosion. Used 1967 Fender Bandmaster Piggyback Head and Speaker Cabinet, the serial number for the amp head is A21391 (and none for the cabinet).
